Structured cable system for voice/data transfer

This is just a demonstration; the actual documentation can be studied by request

1 introduction

1.1           purpose

This document delivers to any interested specialists in the field of  structured cable systems the standard technical specifications for structured cabling applications

The documentations comprise of

n      technical specifications for the products

n      minimum admissible technical performances

n      requirements pertaining to the blueprinting of structured cabling

n      installation requirements

1.2           applicable standards

When implementing the structured voice/data cable system the following international standards will be followed:

-         ANSI/EIA/TIA-568-B 2001 "Commercial Building Telecommunications Wiring Standard"

-     ANSI/EIA/TIA-569 "Commercial Building Standard for Telecommunications Pathways & Spaces"

-         ANSI/EIA/TIA 606 din January 1993 "Administration Standard for the Telecommunications Infrastructure of Commercial Buildings"

-         ANSI/TIA/EIA-607 din august 1994  "Commercial Building Grounding and Bonding Requirements for Telecommunications "

-         ISO IEC 11801 din march 1995 " Information Technology, Generic Cabling Systems" international standard

-         CENELEC EN 50173 din august 1995 " Information technology, Generic cabling systems" European standard

-         Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual" volumes 1 si 2, edition 1995, published by BICSI (Building Industry Consultant Services International)

1.3               Additional technical support

1.3.1          Manufacturer’s quality certificates

all the supplies and connections will have a quality or conformity certificate from the manufacturer

1.3.2          Execution quality certificates

the executor will have certifications from the manufacturers to install the structured cable systems

2. Structured cable systems requirements

2.1. Description of the system

In the beneficiary’s building will implemented a structured voice/data transfer cable system type 5e (enhanced), which will ensure a minimum transmission speed of 100 Mbps towards Gigabit

The  cable system will be based on a stellar format as pertained by the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B ”Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard” . Standard

The system will include either one of the following components in any combination

-         Work site

-         Horizontal cabling

-         Technical room (or interconnecting horizontal cabling equipment)

-         Vertical cabling

-         Equipment room

-         Technical access spaces inside the building

-         The entire transportation ensemble of cables

All passive equipment used, cables and connectors, will be type 5 or type 5e (enhanced) as defined by EIA/TIA-568-B.

Components installation will be done according to ANSI/EIA/TIA-568B, standards ensuring an end-to-end type 5e system

The general structure of the network will be as follows:

-         the central cross connection field for network  will be organized in the IT room

2.2 compatible applications

The structured cable system must be able to sustain or integrate the following

-         Digital and analogical voice transfer applications

-         Data transfer applications

-         Local area network services

-         Wan services

-         Video transmission services

-         Weak current equipment for control machinery

The applications it can sustain include, but are not limited to, the following:

Data communications: Token Ring (IEEE 802.5), Ethernet (10 Base-T, 100 Base-T, 1000 Base-T), 100 Base VG Any LAN, ATM (155 Mbps, 622 Mbps), Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI), Twisted Pair-Physical Medium Dependant (TP-PMD), IBM System 3X, IBM AS/400, AppleTalk, Arc net, ISDN, CDDI and any other application designed to work on a generic structured cabling system, designed and installed according to TIA or ISO structured cabling standards

-         Data processing: mainframe access client server, enterprise server, electronic mail and message systems, client database, etc

-         Voice applications: digital and analogical PABX

-         Video applications: video analogical, video digital, video conference

-         Other applications: monitoring and control of heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, sensors, public address and paging systems, security or other weak current equipments

-         The structured cabling system can is able to sustain any modification, reduction, fast expansion of applications, without interrupting existing services or the personnel, it allows for quick moves, extensions and changes
